In mid-2009 we began a new phase of our lives when we opened a small pet supply store on Spokane’s South Hill. While neither of us had operated a small business prior to Prairie Dog, we believed our passion for pets and their people would somehow translate into a fun business.

We hadn’t realized that many customers would take an active interest in our success, doing their best to spread the word among dog and cat owners. In a sense, Prairie Dog has become a community place in which people converse and dogs sniff each other.

We have four dogs of our own: Jack, a chubby yellow lab; Cally, a tennis-ball obsessed Chocolate lab; Maggie, a Scottish Deerhound with a sweet and stubborn personality; and Rosie, a Spaniel mix who is darn spunky for a one-eyed elderly lady.

We respect the special relationships people have with their pets. We consider it an honor to serve our customers, and believe that our store is one way to honor the human-animal bond.
